Aayla Vance
Hello, I'm Aayla and I'm currently pursuing my Master of Counselling degree at Yorkville University. I believe that mental health should be a top priority, and everyone should have access to the best care available in their communities. I have chosen the path of counselling as my way of contributing to making this a reality.
In my approach to counselling, I believe in collaboration, working together to create a strong and successful journey for clients. We all grow through learning, and everyone involved in the counselling journey has much to learn in their respective roles. I particularly enjoy focusing on humanistic and person-centred modalities in my practice. I believe that every individual is an expert on their own lived experiences, and they can work through these experiences with guidance and assistance.
Aside from being a master's student, I also have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta's Campus Saint-Jean. I currently work as a French immersion teacher in a local school district. Through this experience, I have discovered my passion for lifelong learning and bilingualism. Additionally, it has made me even more aware of the great need for mental health support and services within and outside of the school systems. Throughout my life, I aim to wholeheartedly and tirelessly bring health and happiness to others. I am thrilled and honoured to be able to serve at Rivers Edge, and I'm looking forward to working together with you.
