Slow stitching is just that…stitching slowly. It is the practice of stitching by hand in an

intuitive way. It is not about sewing precisely, like in quilting; rather, it’s about the

meditative and calming effect of pulling the thread through the fabric, bit by bit, without

worrying about the final product. It becomes meditative.

*Participants will receive a Slow Stitch Kit (curated by @threadspells) specifically for this

workshop. This kit includes backing cloths, fabric bits, adornments, needles, embroidery

floss, and thread conditioner. We will work on one 5x5 piece in the workshop and you

will have enough supplies to make an additional piece or two at home. **Previous hand-

stitching experience is beneficial, but not necessary.

In this workshop, participants will:

Have the opportunity to experience a guided meditation.

Learn about the benefits of Slow Stitch as a meditative practice for self-care.

Learn how to create their own Slow Stitched piece.

Receive additional resource information.

Mandala Creation as Meditative Practice Workshop series (1, 2, & 3 )

The creation of Mandalas has a long history associated with many spiritual traditions, spanning many cultures, and is often used as an aid to meditation. More recently, research has demonstrated that drawing, colouring, or painting mandalas can be helpful as a form of stress and anxiety relief, to increase self-acceptance, cope with cravings, and support an overall sense of inner well-being. Colouring is no longer just for children! It never was.

Neurographic art was developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev, in 2014, and

is somewhat new to North America. It is a unique process of line drawing, colouring,

and intension setting, that combines creativity with neuroscience. You do not need to be

an artist or even feel especially creative as it is simple to create a piece and yet still

profound. Neurographic art creation is believed to help reduce stress and anxiety,

increase creativity, help with problem-solving, and improve focus and concentration.

The process supports access to the inner self in a calming and relaxing manner.

In this workshop, participants will:

Have the opportunity to experience a guided meditation.

Learn about the benefits of creating neurographic pieces as a meditative practice and

self-care.

Learn how to create their Neurographic piece.

Receive additional resource information and supplies to create neurographic pieces at

home.
