I believe
Choosing to enter into therapy is a brave step. Facing and feeling pain and uncertainty is a journey that is best met with companionship and support. It is my hope that as we explore your story, you will feel this support. You are not alone. Your healing and decision-making processes are important.
I also believe that our creativity and ideas are valuable. In our work together, you will experience a safe place to share your thoughts and feel heard. I have a genuine curiosity to hear your story and I look forward to how we will explore this together.
My approach
Human needs are simple and complex. We desire love and connection, but when this is disrupted, or taken from us, pain and confusion can ensue. We will aim to restore this connection with self, with others, and with the world around us.
I work from a collaborative, Person-Centered, attachment-based, and goal-oriented approach. Our work together will depend on your unique needs and values.
Background
I have experience with adults, teens, and children in a therapeutic capacity. I am a trained elementary school teacher and have worked in public education teaching children and adolescents. Prior to teaching, I facilitated leadership development opportunities for young adults, exploring the impact of poverty on vulnerable people throughout various countries in the world. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and an undergraduate degree in Education. I am currently working on my Master’s of Psychotherapy and Spirituality, and I look forward to working with you at Rivers Edge Counselling Centre.
“Good therapy helps. Good friends help. Pretending that we are doing better than we are doesn’t. Shame doesn’t. Being heard does.”
